Mr. Merlen is UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Mr. Merlen is UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in the Arab Republic of Egypt. He was previously the Head of UNDP Sub-Office in Aden, Yemen (2013-2018), Field Coordination Officer with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Nepal (2010-2011), Recovery Advisor with UNDP in Haiti (2010), Strategic Planning Specialist with UNDP Iraq (2006- 2009) and Policy Analyst with UNDP Office of Development Studies (ODS) in New York (2003-2005). Other professional roles include work in the private sector, as advisor on renewable energy investments and as quantitative finance analyst at Commerzbank, as well as in teaching and research. Mr. Merlen graduated with a Master’s Degree in Economics from Princeton University and a Master’s Degree in Sciences from Ecole Polytechnique in Paris.
