raise funds and awareness through social media interactions. The Clickfunding received
multiple innovation awards in Paris, Capetown, Cairo and Beirut. The Clickfunding model
was able to reach approximately 36, 000 beneficiaries through more than 13 million social
media users. Salem is a social and environmental entrepreneur that has a longstanding
experience in the field of development. His achievements lead him to become an Ashoka
fellow.
He studied Strategic Management at McGill University and also holds a Masters degree in
International Business Law from La Sorbonne University. Alongside his passion for the field
of development, Salem is a social media geek, specialized in cause marketing. He
understands his generation’s need for innovative content and new ideas. This is why he co-
founded VeryNile, a community based initiative with an aim to clean the Nile on an ongoing
basis. VeryNile is the first initiative to develop large scale means to clean the Nile, while
raising awareness on the importance of protecting our environment. In his spare time, he
has a passion for street art and for photographing Cairo.
