Lamiaa Khayrat
Youth Programme Coordinator at UNDP.Lamiaa currently operates as a Youth Programme Coordinator in the Inclusive Growth and Innovation portfolio at the United Nations Development Programme,Assisting and coordinating youth around Egypt through entrepreneurial hackathons bringing out the best ideas.Lamiaa has been working with the UNDP for around four years.Lamiaa has worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Political Science Department at the American University in Cairo. She has assisted students attain their academic goals and aspirations. In addition, with a spot-on entrepreneurship. She founded and directed “Free Spirit” travel agency; One of the first budget friendly travel agencies dedicated to youth and backpackers in Egypt changing the narrative of travelling.Additionally, she has worked as Programme support with the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) by supporting in delivering workshops to law enforcement officials from African countries to combat human trafficking, terrorism, and empowering women and development. Also, during her time at CCCPA, she contributed to editing the African Union operational guidance note on DDR and countering violent extremism.Lamiaa is an examiner in the UN Learning Proficiency Exam Committee and a member of UNDP Global Greening the Blue committee. Moreover, Lamiaa recently just finished the goal of lecturing 2000 women government officials; under the “She is for a digital future” initiative which was led by the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development- the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development- Lectures were on financial inclusion, gender mainstreaming and Sustainable Development Goals, Agenda 2030.Lamiaa, holds a BA in Political Science, concentration in International Relations; and minored in History from The American University in Cairo, Egypt.Lamiaa has always been interested in International Relations and bringing the world together. She continued her educational journey and achieved a Political Science degree from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from Barcelona, Spain.
