Daniel Nivern (CEO) and Co-FounderDaniel is the Co-Founder and CEO of Virtual Internships, a Series A backed ed-tech company that runs online internship programs across 18 career fields, helping young people from all backgrounds to gain global work experience and gain an unbeatable advantage in a competitive job market.Originally from the UK, Daniel is a graduate from The University of Oxford with a Masters of Science in International Management and Chinese from the University of London (SOAS). He previously co-founded a company in the international internship space, helping over 10,000 students to do internships in Asia through partnerships with universities around the world, as well as with the governments of China, the UK, New Zealand and Israel.Under Daniel’s management, Virtual Internships was a winner of the world’s biggest zero-equity accelerator, Mass Challenge, has been three times listed as one of the top 100 EdTech startups in Europe in the Holon IQ Europe EdTech 100 list and was named as 23rd best remote company to work for in the world, out of 13,000. The company is backed by investors around the world, including the world’s leading VCs, Sequoia Capital and 500 Startups.Daniel has been featured on CNBC, BBC News, Sky News, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Guardian and The Sunday Times for his work in developing global employability programs, and has presented on topics such as Redesigning Internships for the 21st Century at The Forum on Education Abroad, The Global Internship Conference and at The House of Lords (UK).Daniel is a board member of a number of education and travel companies including CRCC Asia, The Dragon Trip, The Learning Adventure, China Universities and The Student Lawyer. He has spent 13 years living in the USA, China and Vietnam, speaks French, German and Chinese, is a keen follower of international affairs and politics and enjoys all sports, most notably as an avid Manchester United fan and passionate boxing enthusiast.
